Job Description:
The manager needs 3 Business Intelligence Business Analysts. She is not looking for IT contractors who would have been heavy on the coding side of Business Intelligence. She is looking for people who are familiar with Data Analysis, Data reporting and Data Presentation to suit the needs of the business. Their department needs help with internal and external reporting requirements which have to do with the grid modernization. External reporting is to a regulatory agency. These are annual reports and the first quarter is the most critical time of year. Internal reports regarding the grid modernization would also be required and would be presented to senior management. These reports and others are on a more frequent or ad hoc basis. The department is responsible for governance and reporting surrounding the grid modernization efforts.
 
Day-to-Day: The contractors will have to gather information from the various operating groups. There will be a lot of data gathering and data management. Contractor needs to be strong in Access, Excel and SharePoint. Experience working with Business Intelligence tools like QlikView would be helpful. This person may have to facilitate meetings or follow up on information required to prepare the reports. There is some technical work required as well in pulling together the data into reports. There may be some analysis and interpretation of the data.
 
Technical requirements: Experience with Qlikview is highly desired. Experience with SharePoint is also highly desired.
Experience: 5 years+
Educational background: Bachelor’s degree is preferred
 
The Business Analyst will be responsible for reporting requirements to the regulatory agency in connection with its grid modernization work. The reports include information regarding infrastructure investment, performance, metrics and milestones, and jobs. In addition to external reports, the Business Analyst will be responsible for assembling internal reports presented to the ComEd leadership and senior team. The Business Analyst will also support ad hoc presentations, events, data requests, and research projects. The Business Analyst’s activities include working closely with other members of the Project Management Office team, grid modernization program managers, HR, Finance, Legal, and ComEd contractors; data gathering and coordination; data system input; facilitation of meetings, reviews, and approvals; and technical work to produce data views, tables, and charts.
 
Skills and Experience:
  • Strong communication skills
    • Must work with various departments, teams, and contractors
    • Must be comfortable conducting calls to gather data and resolve issues
  • Impeccable attention to detail, strong organization skills
    • Must work with large volumes of data, documents, and presentations for the senior team or regulatory filings
    • Must juggle numerous work streams and projects at once
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Access
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong skills with Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010, including data integration and customizations (experience with SharePoint Designer preferred)
  • Experience with  basic SQL
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tool (QlikView preferred)
    • Must design and develop dashboards, as necessary
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET, or understanding of Object Oriented Programming
